I saw SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN last weekend and really enjoyed it.
If you have been following this blog of late then you know I'm not really in the mood for anything too deep. I want something to take me away for a few hours. Please just teleport me to another world that I haven't ever seen before.
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN managed to do just that. The acting won't win any of the stars an Academy Award but they get the job done. The FX are what you would expect from a movie with witches and trolls and a dark forest.
Oh, and it's got the seven dwarves! What's not to love about that?
I did think it a little long, but what blockbuster movie doesn't go a few minutes into overtime these days?
About two thirds of the way through the film there was a particularly beautiful sequence involving fairies and a white stag that I found very cool (maybe because of my mood lately). Usually scenes like these would have me rolling my eyes and crying out for a monster or some bad guy to kill everyone. This time I allowed myself to enjoy the child-like beauty and just soak up the wonder of it.
If you like fairy tales and haunted forests, brave warriors and beautiful princesses, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN is just the movie for you.
